SnackING MADE SIMPLE

Snacking doesn’t have to be complicated! Start with whole foods straight from nature — and get the most nutrient bang for your buck by pre-portioning your snacks to keep on hand or to grab when you are on-the-go.

Here are a few tips about snacking:

  • Be prepared. You never know where you might be when you start to feel hungry, that’s why it’s key to be prepared and keep snacks on hand. Keep them in your bag, at your desk, or anywhere that you might spend your time.
  • Choose nature-made snacks. Choosing nature’s ready-made snacks, like seasonal fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds. Whole food snacks like Greek yogurt, hummus, nut butters, and edamame are great on-the-go options.
  • Keep grab-and-go snacks. Get more nutrient bang for your buck by making your own pre-portioned snacks ahead of time. Prepare cut vegetables, whole fruit, homemade granola bars, and DIY trail mixes in containers so that you have a snack handy even on the run.
  • Go for snack combinations. Pair a healthy fat, like peanut butter or avocado, with fruits, vegetable, or whole grains such as apple slices, celery sticks, or whole grain crackers. A combination of more than one macronutrient (healthy fats, complex carbohydrates, and protein) will keep you satiated until your next meal.
  • Be mindful of snack time. Avoid eating your snack while doing something that distracts your attention, like watching television, working at your desk, or looking at your phone. Instead, take the time to pay attention to your hunger cues to avoid overeating.
